Regions Field transformed a four-block industrial site in downtown Birmingham through comprehensive environmental cleanup we started in 2011.
The project involved extensive soil and groundwater remediation, including removal of over 6,000 tons of regulated material and closure of underground storage tanks, with full regulatory approval achieved by late 2012. A dewatering system was installed to manage groundwater, ensuring no harmful discharge to nearby Valley Creek. Close collaboration with city officials and community stakeholders helped streamline waste management and save millions in costs.
Since the park’s 2013 opening, the surrounding area has flourished, with real estate values increasing by over 500% and the addition of over 3,000 residential units, retail, hotel, and dining options, making Parkside a vibrant urban district.
